From Our President
It seems like only yesterday I was contacted by Ted Ohland, then Editor of the Post, to please submit my monthly President's column. In fact, my last column as President of Metro New York Region of PCA was December, 2002. So much has changed in my life and in the world since then, but my feelings for the Club and people of Metro have not. I still enjoy all aspects of Metro. I would like to thank everyone who took an interest in last year's Metro Executive Board election process. Considering how unusual a contested election was for Metro, I can say it was enlightening and educational. Your Executive Board; David Leonoff, Rich Smith, Marc Campisi and I anticipate a great year ahead. We expect to lead Metro as it continues to evolve, keeping us in the forefront of PCA. Additionally, other members have volunteered to assume new or different Chair positions. Once the season begins, the Metro calendar will be very full. Therefore, all Chairs will welcome assistance. Please let us know who you are and where you would like to offer help. Also, if you have a suggestion for a different event or a new twist on an existing event, please contact me to discuss it. As I write this, Thanksgiving has just passed and the end of 2010 is just a few weeks ahead. While there is some sadness with the end of the year, it is uplifting to look forward to the future. Metro New York PCA is here to provide you with an excellent form of entertainment - activities relating to Porsches. By now many of us have winterized our Porsches and put them in the garage for the winter. Of course, we're always hoping for the rare, warm dry winter day to sneak in a brief drive. To satisfy our craving for auto races and other car related topics, we need to look for recorded videos. Currently, the Metro Chairs are busy planning activities to fill the 2011 calendar. As of this writing, we have scheduled the 55th Annual Snowflake Rally on January 30th. You may already know that, at 55 years, this rally is one of the longest consecutively scheduled activities of any car club in the US. Test your skills at following exact directions and join Rallymaster Ted Ohland for an interesting drive through eastern Long Island. So far, the next on stop on the 2011 calendar will be Metro's second Spring Fling at Collectors Car Garage in Westchester on April 2nd. We have arranged for Hurley Haywood and John Paterek to be guest speakers. In addition, there will be vendors and many, many exotic cars for you to peruse. Registration information can be found in the Porsche Post and online. Metro NY PCA members will enjoy a discount for this event, if they register online. Please check the calendar page for all event updates. Remember, Metro is your Club. You must participate to enjoy all it has to offer. Please volunteer to show others what you have to offer.
