1/16/10: CONCOURS ANNOUNCEMENT 2010 brings a change to the Concours Corner and I am pleased and excited to bring you all up to date on our new group. First let me wish David all the best and thank him for all the events he has so successfully run and for his enthusiasm and love of the Concours group events. The loss of this category in the club would have left a big void for the club and many of the members who joined especially for these events. David has done a fabulous job and we thank him. His support and counsel will be greatly appreciated going ahead this New Year. Going forward, we will take a team approach for each Concours. Our team consists of myself as chair (1977 911S Targa) and members Larry Goldberg (Boxster & 911 owner), Lou Eichenholtz (1987 911 Targa) and Ken Silber (1977 911 Targa and many other collector & exotic cars…he is a one man Concours show on his own). We will work closely on future events and hope the team approach will spread the efforts and ideas among our group. Your ideas and suggestions are always welcome to help make this a successful year so we can expand and create new and innovative events. We will also rotate the chairman’s position among the group to give each one of us a chance to hold the position for one year. We will meet shortly to discuss the coming year’s events and will keep you updated on the calendar as to specifics. April will open the season with a Concours Workshop and details will follow in upcoming issues of the Porsche Post. As of this moment, the May Concours event will be the prestigious Zone 1 Concours and Rally event and will take place at Old Westbury Gardens on May 16th. It is a great honor for the Metro NY Region to host this event and it will include many activities throughout the weekend. We look forward to a great turnout (weather permitting as always) and encourage all of you to come down and participate along with members from other Regions who will take part in this great weekend. This event promises to be one of many highlights of the season. We hope all interested members will continue to support our events and continue to participate actively. You have our team’s commitment to making this a great and memorable season and we will always be available for your comments and suggestions. Again, our sincere thanks to David for all of his efforts on behalf of the club and for all the wonderful Concours events he has put together these past years.
