About Us/President's Page Metro President: Michael Palumbo

From Our President

I would like to start off the year with a few well deserved thanks.

First, to all the Metro members who voted for me as President this year. Your show of support was overwhelming. Thank you.

Thank you to our exiting President, Marc Figelman. Marc has accomplished much over the past year, including necessary updating and modernizing of our very obsolete Bylaws, and making significant progress with PCA National on removing restrictions to our Teen Driving Program. This event was pushed to the top of our list of priorities a year or two ago when we started this program together. Thank you, Marc, for your dedication to the club and for your hard work in behalf of the members.

To all our Board members, both those who have been around for a while and to all the new folks just starting out this year, good luck and thank you for your help.

This year, as always, we will present a few new events to our membership with some different flavors. Also, we will change things a little with our standard sort of events to accommodate everyone. Keep your eyes open for save-the-date notices in The Post as well as here on the Metro web site.

We often get requests to hold events north of the city. This year, we will be making a big effort to get our members who live in the Westchester area to come out to play. The New Members Meeting will change quite a bit and take place in Bedford Hills this year. No excuses, now, Westchester members. I expect to see all of you there, as this will be an event everyone will not want to miss!

One of my responsibilities as President, is to plan and find new venues to hold events, and to seek out and ask Metro members to lend a hand in running them. It is with the placement of new blood on the Board that new ideas and strong relationships are formed, allowing our Club to grow. There are currently a few positions available on the Board and we are looking for a few good people to volunteer to assist with those programs. If you feel you may have some time and would like to get more involved please reach out to me directly by phone or email. We can discuss the program you are interested in and determine together how your skills can best be used to serve the Club. Remember, by participating more fully, you will not only get more out of your Club membership, you will also be serving others. Isn't that what volunteering is all about? Together, we can make 2010 the best year Metro has ever had. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you,

Michael Palumbo
